Ahimsa
Non-harm
Our number one policy at Hourglass Yoga is Respect. We ask that students maintain respect for other students, teachers, and the studio. Prohibited actions include: harmful or dangerous behavior and behavior during class that is disruptive to the teacher or other students. We have a no tolerance policy for the use of slurs or bigoted behavior. The studio reserves the right to ask anyone engaging in such behavior to leave class, and no refund will be issued. This includes removal from online classes.
Stay Home When Sick
Ahimsa
If you are experiencing any of the following, we insist that you refrain from coming into in person classes: fever, respiratory symptoms such as cough, sneeze, runny nose, congestion, sore throat, contagious skin condition, or any other symptom of communicable disease. We appreciate everyone's cooperation and assistance in keeping our community healthy.
Be on Time
Be Respectful
For in-person sessions we recommend arriving at least 10-15 minutes prior to the start of class time, or 20-30 minutes prior to the start of class for your first visit. At 5 minutes prior to class time, anyone not checked in may forfeit their spot in class if there is a wait list. We appreciate your understanding that practice space will be closed, and there will be no further admittance once class begins. We strive to create a peaceful practice with as few disruptions as possible. Late arrivals will be treated as a late cancellation, with no refund for the missed session.
For online sessions we recommend logging in 5-10 minutes prior to the start of class, or 10-15 minutes prior to the start of class for your first visit. Late arrivals will be treated as a late cancellation, with no refund for the missed session.
What To Expect
First Class and More
Comfortable clothing is recommended. Denim is highly discouraged for yoga class. Many students prefer slightly fitted tops that won't gape open during movement, although other students prefer to simply tuck in a loose-fitting top. All students must wear top and bottom clothing in the studio.
Students who prefer not to practice barefoot on their mat may wear yoga socks or other socks with rubber or silicone grips. Regular athletic socks must be removed for standing postures to avoid slipping on the mat.

Students are strongly encouraged to bring a water bottle for class.

For in-person sessions phones must be silenced with no vibration or turned off completely during class. We ask that students leave phones tucked into their belongings rather than bringing them onto the mat.
Do You Teach Hot Yoga?
Online students who are practicing in their own space are invited to make themselves comfortable. While some students prefer a warm space for their practice, the styles of asana taught in our online classes may not be suitable for an overly hot or humid environment. Online students practicing in such environments do so at their own risk.
Cancellation Policy
In Person and Online Classes
Students may cancel their spot in class up to 12 hours prior to the class without consequence. Cancellations made after this time will be charged as if the student attended the session. No call-no shows will be charged as if the student attended the session.
Cancellation Policy
Private Sessions
Students may cancel their private one-on-one or private group session up to 72 hours prior to the class without consequence. Sessions may be rescheduled up to 24 hours prior to the class without consequence. Cancellations made after this time will be charged as if the student attended the session. No call-no shows will be charged as if the student attended the session.
Guests and Children
Lobby Rules and Minors
No guests or children may wait in the class space during class or private sessions. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate students' cooperation.
Minors ages 15 and over may attend all regular in person classes with a liability waiver signed by a custodial guardian. Special events that are suitable for younger children will be advertised on the website with age ranges posted per event; these events will also require a liability waiver signed by a custodial guardian. Students must be 18 to register and log in for online classes; custodial guardians are solely responsible for minors practicing online with their guardian.
Inclement Weather
We will give as much notice as is possible for in person class cancellations due to weather. Enrolled students will be notified by email and app push notifications. Please watch our schedule page and social media for emergency notifications.
Be Safe Out There
Class Schedules

In general, changes to weekly schedules will be made with 2-4 weeks notice.
